Erica Dee Mah is a multi-instrumental musician and singer-songwriter based in Whitehorse, Yukon. "The Sargasso Season" is her first original album of songs written on the guzheng, a 23-stringed Chinese zither. Over the past decade, Erica has set out to find a new place for the guzheng in Canadian folk-roots music, writing lyrically-rich contemporary songs on the traditional instrument. Exclaim! Magazine recently named her one of the "must-hear" emerging artists in Canada, and she was featured on CBC Music alongside artists like the Polaris Music Prize finalists, Pantayo, who are incorporating Asian heritage into their music. She performs with Darcy McCord, a classically-trained cellist, and together they create a unique orchestral folk sound.
