The Duncan Cowichan Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with Scotiabank, is pleased to present the 2nd Annual Small Business. BIG DAY. This one-day symposium, in celebration of Small Business Month, will be held at the Ramada Duncan. There will be a dynamic line-up of speakers, panel sessions and workshops, all of which are focused on supporting local small business. Everyone welcome! You can register for select sessions or purchase a Full Day Pass at a discounted rate. Advance registration required.

ADVISORY CAFE & BREAKOUT ROOMIn addition to the program itinerary (detailed below), we are delighted to offer our our Advisory Cafe & Breakout Room, which will be open all day in conjunction with the symposium. Connect with advisors from Community Futures Cowichan and WorkBC to learn about the resources and support programs available to small business owners. John Close and Andrew Langford, hosts of Obstacle Course will also be set-up in the Advisory Café capturing inspiring stories for their local podcast series.

PANEL 1: START-UP & EARLY GROWTH | PANEL 2: MATURITY & EXIT STRATEGY
MNP hosts this presentation and 2-part panel, which will take you through the key considerations and framework needed to successfully navigate the lifecycle of your business. This session will begin with a 15 minute overview, following which, attendees will break off into two groups, each with their own dedicated set of panelists. Panel 1 will focus on Start-up & Early Growth, while Panel 2 will focus on Maturity & Exit Strategy. The dual-panel, open-dialogue format will provide ample opportunity for you to delve into the relevant topics for your stage of business and come away with valuable strategies and action plans.

David Greenfield, Principal with A.Spire By Nature, will be presenting on the Malahat Skywalk, an exciting nature based attraction on southern Vancouver Island. David will speak to the principles behind a successful nature based attraction, drawing on a case study of the Sea to Sky Gondola, and will also touch on some of the impacts on the region during the construction phase and once the attraction is operational.

This session will focus on how claims impact your business, why it is important to understand the impact and what you (the employer) can do or not do to mitigate costs. Pam will take you on a roller coaster ride of knowledge, fun facts and interactive engagement on why it is important to protect your business, productivity and your bottom line. Prepare to ask and answer questions, as we tackle some of the biggest challenges that can arise when faced with a claim. During this fun and interactive 1-hour workshop, you'll learn the basics needed to create video with your smartphone or tablet, and how to create video content that will convert viewers into customers.
